About PTG
The Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) is a professional organization for piano technicians. Founded in 1957, it promotes high standards of piano service and offers education, certification, and networking opportunities to its members. The guild’s certification program tests a technician’s knowledge of piano technology and ability to tune, repair, and maintain pianos.
The PTG has four chapters in the state of Washington: the Seattle Chapter (serving roughly Seattle to Bellingham), the Puget Sound chapter (Tacoma and south), the Inland Northwest Chapter (Spokane), and the Central Washington Chapter.

Registered Piano Technicians
Registered Piano Technicians (RPTs) are guild members who have passed a series of high standard certifying exams that test their knowledge and skills in piano technology, tuning, repair, and maintenance with an attention to detail and precision. Testing is rigorous, detailed, and time-consuming.
